Measure the resistance of windings as under:
- Insert the black test lead into the common terminal of the multimeter/ohm meter & red test lead into an terminal.
- Set the function switch to the Ohm range.
- Connect the test leads to terminal 1 & terminal 2 of the compressor & note the value.
- Connect the test leads to terminal 1 & terminal 3 of the compressor & note the value.
- Connect the test leads to terminal 2 & terminal 3 of the compressor & note the value.
Now you are ready to identify the compressor terminal sequence:
- The highest reading indicates the total of the run + start winding resistance.
- 2nd highest reading indicates the start winding.
- The lowest reading indicates the run-winding.
You can now locate the S, C, and R terminals of the compressor.
