Despite being an organisation with over a century of history, we work hard to stay relevant to each generation of young professionals. We build on our inclusive culture of trust and collaboration where every voice is heard and valued. 

30-year-old digital native, Jaymon, who has just completed two years in the Interio division was amazed at how approachable senior leadership were and how actively they encouraged fresh ideas and new perspectives, regardless of one’s role or experience level. “This emphasis on growth and a mindset willing to embrace change while staying true to our values created an environment where I felt empowered to contribute meaningfully right from the start,” he recalls.  

Sujata, a specialist welder in the aerospace business for 5 years feels that this respect for every individual is what helps bring the best out of everyone. “As a woman I got all the respect and opportunity to perform to my best. I was always motivated by superiors to take challenges and learn skills that were earlier male dominated,” she says. 

Ashwini, a 2-decade veteran who leads the CSR function says that the company’s open communication approach with customers, partners, and employees helps build lasting trust. “Whether it’s delivering on product promises or adhering to sustainable practices, we ensure consistency between what we say and what we do,” says Ashwini. In other words, everybody walks the talk.    

Once you work here, employees realise that it is their colleagues that make all the difference. “The Godrej Way is lived through its people and is very infectious,” says Rohit with a smile. Rohit has worked for over two decades in the power & energy business, joining as a field engineer and now leading the strategic Green Consultancy & Energy Management business.   

“The open communication and the supportive work environment surprised me. Everyone was approachable and willing to help, which made learning much easier,” says Rikitha, who joined the company 18 months ago. “At GEG, no one works in isolation. Everyone is willing to share knowledge, help with challenges, and celebrate successes together. This culture of collaboration has not only helped me grow professionally but also made me feel valued as part of a team. It’s motivating to know that your contributions matter and that you are supported by your colleagues”, she said. 

Vijay, the head of digital initiatives, who is also relatively new to the company echoes these sentiments. “People. People. People. The rest of the aspects could have a one-millionth outlier but people here are always good, with good intent and always respectful. This will always ensure that GEG achieves great heights of success,” he explained.  

Employees feel the integrity across the organisation and that sets the foundation for trust and collaboration among employees. “It’s about being honest and transparent, not just when things are going well, but especially when challenges arise,” said Vaishali, a designer. “This creates a culture where people feel empowered to make decisions with confidence because trust thrives among colleagues and leaders,” she added.  

This integrity is reflected in organisational actions too. “This company has always had a caring attitude towards its employees and the society at large. This was profound during the Covid pandemic when there was a lot of flexibility given to employees in terms of working. And the most important thing was no one lost their jobs in such a difficult time,” Rohit recalled fondly.  

“It’s more than just doing the right thing—it’s about being consistent, keeping commitments, and maintaining ethical standards, even when no one is watching. Integrity is the cornerstone of our personal and professional growth, enabling teams to work towards shared goals with mutual respect,” Vaishali explained. 

“All our employees always reflect trust and integrity in their actions at an individual and team level. It is this humaneness in our approach which runs throughout the organisation and its people that makes us a rare organisation,” says Swapneel, a 3-decade veteran and business leader. “It begins with respecting every individual employee in every role and progresses to trusting every team member to perform their roles with dedication and passion.” 

“By building an environment that encourages experimentation and new ideas, it ensures that no two days are the same. This culture pushes me to think outside the box, continuously improving processes and seeking creative solutions to complex problems,” says Sujata. “The focus on innovation means that I’m constantly exposed to new technologies, strategies, and methodologies, which keeps me engaged and motivated. It also presents unique challenges, driving me to step out of my comfort zone and develop new skills, ensuring that my work remains stimulating and rewarding.” 

Vibrant Vikhroli: A campus like no other

Arrive in Mumbai 79, better known as the eastern Mumbai hub of Vikhroli, and you can readily feel the difference in the air. The temperature is cooler by at least 2-3 degrees compared to surrounding areas. The AQI index is always moderate to good, despite being the manufacturing hub for many of Godrej Enterprise Group’s businesses. And if the verdant greenspaces across hundreds of acres don’t soothe your senses the moment when you step into the campus, the abundance of trees, blooming flowers and bird calls will.  

A substantial area of Godrej campus in Vikhroli is covered by mangroves. The Vikhroli mangroves, one of the largest in Maharashtra, is a godsend for the city. They store more than a million tonnes of carbon, mostly from pollutants that humans release into the atmosphere. One of the main features of mangrove trees is that they sequester more carbon than most of the terrestrial vegetation.  

Interspersed with factories, nature and offices is the Pirojshanagar township where 50,000 people live and work. A role model of integrated sustainable habitat with thriving floral and faunal diversity along with industrial plants, commercial offices, schools, hospital and residential colonies with abundant green spaces makes this township a unique urban habitat. Children go to a school that encourages a learning mindset, residents have access to world-class healthcare, as well as large open spaces for sports and recreation. Inspired by Pirojsha Godrej, it was executed by his son Naval and his wife Soonabi, in a manner where people and planet are integrated to achieve a lower carbon footprint.  

These are some reasons why the Godrej Enterprises Group (GEG) campus in Vikhroli has a just reputation for having the greenest working spaces in the city of Mumbai. Rohit, who heads the green building consultancy business, believes that the Vikhroli campus embodies the organisational value of environmental stewardship championed by Sohrabji Godrej in the 1970s. Sujata from the Aerospace Business echoes this sentiment: “We promote many initiatives within the campus like shuttle buses, cycles and car-pooling to save energy. We maintain lush green spaces around our offices. We are water positive. Seeing this around us not only fosters a sense of responsibility among employees but also contributes directly to reducing our carbon footprint.” Hussain adds that creating sustainable facilities with green spaces is a core philosophy that extends to satellite campuses in Shirwal, Mohali and Dahej.  

Vikhroli’s vibrancy comes not only from nature but also from its facilities. At our campus cafe Hubble, colleagues can meet to collaborate and ideate or enjoy a coffee, eat their meals and even work remotely within the campus. Installations and art help bring the organisation's DNA to life across the campus. And of course, the 15,000+ GEG employees who add their own dash of colour and energy to the campus vibe.  

What began with the Godrej family’s philanthropy has now been integrated into the organisation's policy, processes and infrastructure management with a Corporate Environment Policy which explicitly states its intentions in the ‘protection, conservation and enhancement of green cover and biodiversity’.
